SFIA’s National Health Through Fitness Day Cancelled for 2021

Due to health and safety precautions, the annual advocacy day will not take place on Capitol Hill

SILVER SPRING, MD (March 2, 2021) — For the second year in a row, National Health Through Fitness Day will not take place in March. The event, which has brought together health and fitness advocates in Washington, D.C. for over 20 years, was halted in March of 2020, as news of COVID-19 swept across the nation. Just a day before the activities were set to commence, plans were changed to protect the health and safety of our athletes, attendees, legislators and Congressional staff.

SFIA hoped to host the event in 2021, but as the virus continues to spread and with strict security measures implemented on Capitol grounds, we will be postponing the event one more year. We look forward to returning to Capitol Hill, in person, in March of 2022. SFIA is excited to welcome pro-activity advocates, athletes and longtime supporters of active lifestyles back to Capitol Hill once again, as we continue to promote the Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act, legislation that encourages and incentivizes Americans to be more physically active.

In the meantime, we will continue to push PHIT and we will be enlisting PHIT supporters to personally contact members of Congress, encouraging sponsorship and passage of the bill. We look forward to working with our friends to deliver our pro-activity, pro-health message to Congress in 2021 and reuniting in person in Washington next year.

We thank everyone for their support, and plan to make great strides over the next several months as we continue to promote activity to combat threats to America’s health through preventive measures. Together, we can make America healthier and stronger.
