Almost 100 Categories of Sporting Goods and Fitness Products Recommended for Tariff Relief
Industry in line for more than $40 million in duty relief annually
The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) submitted its final recommendations for duty relief via the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) earlier this month. Congress is expected to pass the MTB relief recommendations submitted by USTR and send them to the President for his signature by the end of the year to avoid any disruption in MTB relief. The new MTB will provide duty relief on eligible products from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023.
SFIA initiated its MTB effort in 2019 and had a 97 percent success rate on its duty relief petitions. Signing the MTB into law will culminate a year-long effort to secure relief on SFIA member products. Please find a complete list of SFIA petitions and additional sports & fitness products in line for duty relief in the below table. For more information on MTB duty relief please contact Bill Sells SFIA SVP for Government and Public Affairs at bsells@sfia.org.
